Akari Komura is a Japanese composer-vocalist. She grew up in Tokyo until she was twelve, then moved abroad due to her parent’s work to spend her teenage hood in Indonesia. This transition impacted her to develop a deeper connection to music and to communicate with others regardless of the language barrier. From an early age, Akari has been involved in performing arts through playing the piano, singing, and dancing modern ballet. Her interest in nature-based contemplative practices is central to her artistic belief that those sonic expressions are imagined to emerge as an embodiment of natural elements.
Kit Lascher is the King of Trash Wonderland. She is an art corvid (collects anything shiny, believes in setting fire to genres and other constructs, holds her collaborators close, and always remembers even when gluing fragments together). She lives in Southern California and has written, performed, and directed pieces about ritual, alienation, and emotions for the stage and page. She is currently writing about creatures including ghosts, insects, and maybe even humans. She loves connecting with artists who find humor in the void and meaning where others say not to look. Andy Jarema is a music educator, composer, and trumpet player from metro-Detroit, Michigan. As an educator, he is passionate about teaching lessons in non-traditional music education fields such as video game music and digital audio production. As a composer, he is fascinated by the way the natural sound world interacts and intertwines with music. His creative projects range from weather data sonification to making music from a cute barking Cavalier King Charles named Aoife. When he is not composing or teaching, you can find him taking hikes and road trips with his partner Danielle and baby daughter Etta.
Momilani Ramstrum creates a music of nature to stop and breathe deeply in order to nourish body, mind, and spirit. Sounds of wind and sky with unlikely life and colors dance in unexpected ways. She is based in San Diego and collaborates with a shared respect, space, and freedom to evolve, play, and create.
Her interactive installations allow participants to see and hear the impact of their movement in space on sound and image. She created a MIDI glove to control the computer in real-time while doing vocal improvisation in performance.
